Classic ID beach Question

New member
Greetings all,
Had Mr.Bills mods done on this particular unit and was curious if the new mods might improve beach hunting in the wet sand now that it has GB and Threshold TIA
Dave

It will come closer to balancing the conductive sands better than no gb adjustment. But if I remember right a long time ago I had a Classic 3. (IDX without the meter) I put gb and thresh on it. It didn't have the range to balance the salt. But it worked just OK in the wet. Your PP won't work in the wet. Of course it will work great in the dry. Get a big long handled scoop too.

Thanks for your reply,i appreciate it,one other inquiry-In what order were the Classics released? again TIA
Dave

White's have the earlier Coinmaster series with the Coinmaster I, II, III and III Plus. These were in more squarish-shaped housings and powered by 3-9V batteries.

Then they brought out the Classic SL series and those included the Classic I, Classic II and Classic III. The III was similar in controls and features as the Coinmaster III Plus and had the Frequency Shift and Normal/Black Sand toggle. All of those were non-display models.

About 1998 they introduced the Classic ID. This was basically the Classic II with the two knobs for control plus the target ID display. It also had a 'front-end' change from the Classic II that allowed it to use the Blue Max series of search coils.

That was later followed by the Classic IDX which was basically a Classic III SL with the Classic ID's target ID display added. About 2001 they had some model changes and renaming and the Classic IDX was renamed the IDX Pro. Same basic detector but had a matte-finish decal under the display rather than the bright shiny, silvery decal of the Classic IDX.

That's probably a question for Whites or Monte V. There were a lot of classics. The sl models ran the AA battery packs and are probably the ones your talking about?
I will try to put them in order of release only to be posted for correction?
Classic 1sl
Classic 2sl
Classic 3sl
Classic ID
I think all these came out at the same time or close to it.
Then came the
Classic IDX
Then came the
Classic IDXpro
Let's not forget the Classic 5ID made exclusively for K-CO after Whites put an end to the Classics. This Classic ran at 8kHz and uses the Prizm series coils. All the other Classics mentioned ran at the Whites standard 6.59 kHz.
