Classic 5 ID vs. ACE 250

I am ready for a new machine, but can't decide if I want the Whites classic 5 or the Garrett ACE 250. There is plenty to read out there about how great the ACE is but I haven't found much on the Classic 5 ID. Does anybody have one or know anything about this machine?
Thanks, Bill

I've never used the Classic 5ID but I think you might ask Monte.
He's the resident expert Whites and most people trust what he has to say.
When all else fails, Call Whites direct and ask to speak to a tech not a salesman.
Ask him to tell you the difference between the Classic 5ID, which by the way is
specially made for Kelly Co, and how it compares to the Coin Master Pro for $279.
Ask how the two pinpoint. But I really recommend you start a new thread here addressed to MONTE:
NEED YOUR HELP. He's a straight shooter.

The C-5 is made just for Kellyco. It's just like the old Classic ID of yesteryear but runs on the Prizm frequency of 8.5kHz. So only Prizm coils will work. It can still be modified to have a panel mount GB and threshold. I suggest to buy a Classic ID, IDX or IDXpro. This way you'll have your choice of any coils.

Khouse:
Does this apply to the Prizm 4 now called the CoinMaster Pro?
The buyer is stuck with only prizm coils? At $279 it sounds lke a deal
but the Ace 250 is also a good detector in my opinion.

The new Coinmasters and Prizms are the same frequencies. Ace 250 and Classics are two different animals. You may want to try them both and compare?

then it is a tough call. Both are priced reasonably.

The Garrett Ace 250 is an OK detector and is a very good unit for the dollar because it is simple, works, and the best part is that a 4

Monte:

I'd have thought that for the dollar ($279) Coin Master Pro would out shine the Classic 5 ID even though it's limited to the coils it can use.

An acquaintance of mine from last year has a Classic but it doesn't have a 1 or II or III after its name. Its just a plain
old Classic and has either one or two control knobs, I don't recollect now how many it had. Obviously it had ONE though.

He invited me to MD the Raceway where he has worked for years. We went looking for a lost ring in the bleachers; we never
did find the ring. His Classic seemed to be a plain old "point and beep."

By "bargain" I am referring to models that are in the lower-priced range, such as $175 to $280. Some refer to them as "beginners" or "back-up" or something similar. The Ace 250 HAS been one of the better choices because there wasn't much in that

Hi all, I have a very nice Classic 111 that has the Mod. done that Monte was talking about. It was done by Mr. Bill If anyone wants it i will sell for $245.00 Shipped. In very good condition. Thanks Dean

Hello from Michigan,
I have a friend that just started out detecting in March and just bought the Whites Classic 5 ID and is still learning the machine.
Like most of us, we don''t dig every target we come across, but for him he digs everything ,and that might be a lot of digging,
but it works well for him. We have been detecting a big park the last month, and he has dug 3 gold rings, 2 silver rings, 2 silver religious pendants,
and a few silver coins, so i think for the price of the detector it's a good buy. Here is a video of a few finds from the park.
