Classic 12-37 signal

but this time it was a little heavier..... 27.3 grams 10k....dig those penny signals.
Actually, since zinc pennies corrode in the salt, they normally don't read 12-37 and since I hadn't hit any pennies yet at this spot, I felt I had a good chance that it wasn't one..... glad I did dig it.
Sensitivity 28, manual, 5 tones combined, Ferrous coin, response long, wide open screen. Knee deep water.
GL and HH all

beautiful.someone cried hard about that loss...

Thats a biggin!

Very nice !!! I sometimes pass up 12-37 after digging a ton of pennies on the beach and after seeing that monster of a ring I will not make that mistake again. Was there any difference on the screen or tone that would indicate the difference between a penny and your ring?

Good question but this was a solid signal constant 12-37 .... target trace was solid on the signal.... that was what was different.... zinc pennies don't read 12-37 after they corrode and no one had been in the water here for awhile so I didn't expect a new penny....

Thanks, but I think I've had ever number under the sun come up for pennies. Just recently I had two pennies that read 12-24, they didn't look any different than any other corroded penny that I've found on the beach. For me most pennies come up in the 12-34 to 12-39 range, I even get pennies around the classic dime signal too. How are you getting such precise numbers?

Oh, pennies for me on my machine do hit all over the scale dependent on depth, proximity to other targets, coil placement over target and corrosion. My machine is no different than others, numbers do jump around, this target however was different, due to size of the ring? I wish I had all the answers, I'm still learning what this machine can do....

Well good for you Cliff. Very happy for you. Keep it up.

Looks like it may be from 1968......is there a name or initials engraved inside? I bet someone would be elated to see that come home! In any case, great save and congratulations~~!!

I have had pennies come in 12-20 through 12-22 a couple of times and have had them come all in between due to corrosion. It's all dependent on how much corrosion and the shape of the corrosion.

As for the ring.... Very nice find! :clapping: The only thing I have found related to a class ring was the flat portion off the front of the ring. It ended up coming from a high school on the other side of the state. You have done well to find the whole ring is what I'm trying to say.

My wedding band has Gold with two small white gold bands on the edges of the ring. I did a air test and it was 12/37.

Wow! Nice ring! I passed 12-37 so many times at lot of junk park in Chicago! I don't understand that junk zinc penny and classic ring both 12-37....both are different metal.

And I've almost started skipping those Zincolns! They ring up almost a perfect 12-36/37 every time. Running Mals beach program, Manual sens, pitch hold, combined, low trash, almost wide open.
