Clarion, PA/PA laws?

BlackX

New member
I'll likely be in the Clarion area the last week of March and would like to do a little detecting while I'm there. We'll probably be staying in a cabin near Cooke's River SF.. (Anyone have any recommendations? My GF likes baths but most I've found just seem to have showers.) I'm wondering what the PA detecting laws are for the state forests, etc.

What about trespassing laws? I grew up in PA and have been back at times to visit relatives or friends, hunt, etc. and it seemed like, at least for hunting, land seemed to be open if not posted. (I always had places to hunt so didn't need to find out for sure.) If that's the case, does it work the same for metal detecting?

Anything else I should know?

I lived in Clarion when I was 7. I remember a park nearby that had a large statue in the center of it. That was 1961 so there should be some silver there if somebody hasn't tapped it out. I was born in Brookville. I would like to get back there sometime and detect the Brookville dam area where we used to go swimming. My mother said she went swimming there when she was in high school. If only I had a water machine. I really need to visit. I have cousins in Punxy, Dubois, Clarion, Brookville all over that area. I can't imagine they have laws about detecting around there.

They are talking about state parks right?

I detect a local park and the local police don't bother me.
