First anything that any of us may say is speculation.....and let me try to help you to visualize what I see, whether right or wrong....
1. The F-75 is an awesome machine.
2. There are 1000's of people who aren't willing or can't afford a $1000 + machine.....
3. Those people comprise a larger share of the market
4. The majority of those people are coinhunters
5. That market segment is saturated with machines that will really well
With that in mind, First Texas had to build a machine that would fill that "marketing niche" Not only that but it had to be able to outperform its competition..
Why not use the F-75 platform with fewer bells and whistles ? Viola..... The F-70.... So here you have a machine that's Big Brother is a proven performer, excellent lineage to jump into this segment of the market with both feet... If you can afford the absolute best, buy the F-75.... but I will say that the majority of people who use the F-70,will love it....
From our viewpoint, detectors are about detecting.........From First Texas viewpoint, an investment company, their concern is marketing. Selling to all segments of the economic ladder.....I don't think they are aiming at us F-75 owners with the introduction of the F-70 or F-5. I think that you will see people up grading from Brand X machines and some from the F-4 ranks...
Again, these are only opinions and may or may not contain any merit whatsoever.... I do think that speculation gives a person's brain a workout, something that we all need. Some of you guys jump in the mix here and less us know what you think...Best to all, Richard

your best point being First Texas's mindset VS OUR mindset.
We want the biggest bang for our buck...and first Texas wants to sell machines. (After all........thats why they are in business)
You made a very good point with your comment of what folks can afford too.......and the sheer number of pure "coin shooters " out there. There IS fierce competition in the pricing/performance arena today....with a lot of good performers coming in now at the 4 to 6 hundred dollar level...and to stay in the game all the manufacturers have to have a dog in the fight.
I personally want pure performance..and am fortunate in the fact that price isnt an issue for me. Sure.....I dont want to pay more than I have to..........BUT, I'll pay what it takes to get what I percieve as the "best".....and what works for ME. I think First Texas and Fisher will be very sucessful with the F70. Looks like a winner. Cant wait to swing one and check it out!! :)
(But I wont give up my 75!!) :) :)
Great post Richard...............................

I agree. You both made excellent points. Sometimes it is hard for us to see both sides of the picture.

the F-70 will "kick some major #$%*&.....I own an F-75 and will replace it with one of the newer F-75's with the upgrades but I WILL put the F-70 thru its paces....I'm excited too..... At my age, I can't afford to get my blood pumping too hard ..... for me, seeing, a button or .59 come out of the ground that someone missed, is a pure shot of adrenalin....If First Texas keeps it up, I may be looking down on you guys watching YOU dig the good ones....BTW, Bounty Hunter is producing some better machines than is was a decade ago, too.....Best to all, Richard

The F-75 is my first Fisher and I really had no brand loyalty coming into it (My prior, a Minelab, I bought used).

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that Prior-Fisher, though making a great detector, HAD to have had some problems either brought on my lack of direction or lack of pricing competitively; either from market pressures or internal errors. Point being: if they were a strong company they would not have been purchased. Been in their situation with former employers who were bought (or sold by other owners).

We can hope that First Texas is making good detectors that the public wants. They didn't seem to be afraid to price the F-75 relaitvely high, and it seems to have paid off. I'm just hoping they didn't make the F-5 and F-70 too good. Then I'll kick myself for not having waited. :rage:

That's exactly my thinking on the matter Streak, couldn't have put it better.
Another thing i feel is a real good move is to make the F75 and the F70 compatible coil wise.
Every F75 owner will welcome more coil options.
The F75 has sold very well and will no doubt continue to sell.
Making the F70 a very good machine means that this too will have plenty of takers.
Combine the sales of both of them and this makes the production of alternative coils a more attractive financial proposition not just for First T but other manufactures as well and we the end user gets more options so everybody benefits. Lets hope so anyway!!
Take care. Mart.
