A big thumbs up to everybody here on the forum who have posted on the solutions to problems that inexperienced users of the MXT have encountered....It surely shortens the learning cure & points one in the right direction to learning how to get the most out of this nice little beeper...I've only had mine for a couple of weeks & took it out for a test drive without really knowing how to use it...At first I tried my own "dialing in" & then tried the factory presets....Let me tell each & every one of you that you have really help immensly at shortening the learning & frustration curve...I haven't tried as of yet any "serious" detecting with this unit "MXT"....but will shortly because of every person who has taken the time to say....turn down the threshold & boost gain or vice versa...I probably don't even have a total of three hours time on this detector yet but by going out & detecting for a half hour here & an hour there & then comeing back to the forum & reading similar posts of problems encountered it shouldn't be long before I start posting pics...Thank you ALL VERY MUCH...Tom

Take a note book with you and write down the factors that make you think a target is good then dig it and see what it is. This will help cement what is happening in your head as it relates to the target. A little extra time up front will make your find rate go way up over all. At first dig a lot of junk it might surprise you. Having a pocket full of junk is great when someone from the park department comes around. They see that you are helping out. Junk makes weak spots in their sod. Large items make spots where the grass can't even grow.
