:clapping:First Day Out With Ace 250....PRICELESS TREASURE FOUND

OK, here it goes......I was supposed to be deer hunting, but my boy wanted to go to the football game last night. I'm going hunting after the LSU game which is on now...Tigers down 24-17 almost halftime.....anyway we went to the I-10 beach in Lake Charles, LA......I figured it would be good since the hurricanes we have gotten the past few years. The day started off sunny and the low 50's .....very nice.....my son brought his friend along and wanted to fish instead of md, so, I just figured after a few casts they would put down the rods and want to md as I had my 250 and brought the two 150's along too. Well, I was wrong.....my boy caught a nice redfish right off the bat and a big flounder too...all before I could get my headphones on,lol. Anyway, I turn on the 250 and procede to find many, many, many pull tabs.....even the old style....this beach is never hunted I guess. So, I was starting to get agrivated and put the 250 in coin mode and it started raining pennies. Then, not too long after that my wife called and said she was coming to meet us just to get out of the house. She brought ice for the fish and sat down to read the paper. After a while, I was a little ways down the beach and I hear someone walk up behind me.......and that's when the Priceless TREASURE was found...... it was my wife holding one of the 150's from the truck and she says...(in her cajun/country accent).."show me how to work this thang"....My heart hit my toes..I was so excited....I just got back into md'ing and asked her to come along several times, but she said she didn't think it would interest her that much......after a few hours of learning......she told me that she had a great time......she said this is really fun.......words can't explain how that made me feel......looks like I got myself a full time md'ing partner........here are our pics.....oh, I did find a coin while walking back to the truck that isn't from here.....it's says 10f on one side and other side has RF with a ballet ? looking person between the letters.....it has a copper ring with a silver insert....t's a 1990 10 francs french coin....that was my second highlight next to my wife enjoying the hobby that I like too....that Ace 250 sure did the job in more ways than one.....well got to go clean fish now and get ready to go to the deer lease....I guess we'll bring the md's so she can practice out there......Any helful tips on my Rock Tumbler post will be appreciated.......I found the top right and bmiddle left coins and junk 22 pennies and 4 dimes, my wife's finds are middle right...5 pennies, nickle, quarter, and a dime.....bottom pics are the french coin

That is a gook looking "flattie" in the picture......No I am not being insulting to your wife. I am talking about the flounder. All that I catch are palm sized ones.
Love the Cajun style of speaking. Lets a person realize that some parts of this country just refuse to jump into the big-American melting pot where we all turn into identical clones.
Have yet to try my 250 on the saltwater beach here in Washington state.....any advice from one user to another?????

Definitely turn down the sensitivity to 4 bars and start out with coin only mode......it's a lot different than my 150's and my GTA 350 was.....seems like Garrett put a lot of bells and whistles and good electronics into one dang good cost efficient detector

Those are some nice fish. Whip up a pan of cornbread, some collard salad and a cold beer and we're in the good, then!

I wouldn't know how to act if my wife showed any intereset in my detecting hobby. Oh, she's glad when I bring some gold trinket or nice coin home, but to actually go out and try it herself - well, that aint likely to happen.

The French coin? Just that, a now defunct bi-metal 10 Franc coin. It is composed of a cupronickel center, like our own nickel, inside an outer ring of aluminum, brass, and nickel mixed together. When the two tones come from two different metals, the coin is called "bimetallic." I believe the figure on the front is a depiction of Liberty, with the letters, "RF," meaning Republique Francais. With the Euro now the common European currency, such coins are essentially worthless except to collectors. As dug, off a brackish LA beach, well... it makes for a neat conversation piece.

good post you had a great day out with the family big bonus detectin with the wife , double the fun & finds

Hi Dale, I'm very glad you find the best MD partner you can find, other than your son of course. You got a lot of great goodies there by the way. Keep up the good work. For my Tumbler I use plain fish tank gravel and Dawn Soap and hot water. I let them tumble for one hour and a half and then rinse them and repeat the process 2 more times or if you think they look pretty enough after the first time, then you're done. Have a great weekend!!!

Well the 250 plays cupid. What a twist. Glad your wife got the bug. When my wife was able she loved detecting and was my constant partner. Don't get any better than that.

Mostly out in the water or along the edge at low tide. Wade with the Shadow X5, Sidewinder MM, Golden MM, or the GT with the 5" coil. If I am out in the water up to my neck use the Excal or the CZ 20. The anolog detectors detectors give that sweet audio ramp up and down on a good target. I have dug alot of diamond rings and gold off that beach and in the water. You just got to be patient and dig a lot. :D: . John hope you and Bill (Uncle Willy) have been doing well. I even take my ACE 250 down every once in a while. :D: Good little machine and very senstive to the gold and all those broke off beaver tails.
Man I hate those things  but, you got to dig them if you want those diamond rings. Am about ready to go over to Fl. to see the kids and hunt for a month over there. Had to wait till the hurricans got past and over with. The last two hurricanes Rita and IKE really sucked all those pulltabs and beaver tails and round pull tabs off the beach into the water. Seems like when I get them all out of the water here comes another hurricane and drag them back off the beach into the water again. Now it is a mess again.
Dale I hope you take more of those pulltabs home with you as that means I ain't got to dig them. There is a big low tide tomorrow so go down there then, especially if the wind is out of the north. I might be down there myself.
John is right, I don't post much anymore but, I still hunt a lot. I so some Testing every once in a while for a few people but you know how that is Bill, you have to keep your mouth shut.
Alot of us old guys keep in touch via E-mail or PM's and between that and reading the findmall forms and keeping up reading you guys Posts I stay real busy. That is why I don't post much anymore. Even when I do Post Information about things no one ever has anything to say about my Posts so I just don't do it much anymore. I just hunt a lot and Lurk. :D: I really do enjoy reading and seeing you guys finds.
I am really looking forward to going back over to Fl. and hunting the beachs and spending time with my Grandson hunting. I paid for my F75 about 3 times last time between the rings and Gold. Pat jumped on that 1/2 kt. Markee 14Kt. diamond ring with the 5 diamonds on each side like a Duck on a June Bug when I got back from over there. I have to keep here spoiled :inlove: so I can go hunting anytime I want. You all know how that is.
OK I am back to Lurking, hunting and reading you guys Posts, ya'll keep up the good work and the nice Finds. :D: :D: HH Later and May All Your Days Be Filled With Gold. Jerry aka Tinfoil

Jerry you old rascal you where ya been and how in the hell have ya been? Thought you had fallen off the edge of the world. I miss bumping gums with ya and it's been a month of Sundays since we did. Sure glad to hear you're okay and still at it. You can post here anytime and I'll read and answer your posts. We need guys like you to help out all these newbies and share your smarts..

You ought to bag up all those tabs so the hurricanes don't dump them back in the water. :) I hate em myself and it's a shame that all the gold and goodies have to fall within the same conductive range as those pesky things. Wish some Einstein would invent a tector that could separate the gold from the junk. I read some time back where they were designing a new mine detector for the military that displayed a 3-D image of what was in the ground. Wouldn't it be the living end to have that on a detector. Have you tried the Infinium in any of your water hunting? It's quite a machine.

You tested anything good lately? I haven't done much lately. Tested an inline probe for Sun Ray awhile back and the new pinpointer for Garrett. Keep hoping they come out with some new exotic machine that I can play with. You don't lurk so much and come see us
and we'll BS a bit You take care of yourself.
