Hi Folks
Didn't expect the day to turn out hot and muggy the way it did I believe Cooter experienced the same kind of day too I decided to detect the back side of the fort again hoping to find a keeper or two. There are several areas where the Alabama Gang have had success finding silver and cool relics in the past. These same areas have been hunted time and time again but occasionally you'll find a coin here and there that's half way decent. I've been constantly trying to find new locations where troops might have trained, which were mostly during WWII (it was estimated that over 500,000 men trained during WWII alone at this fort) leaving behind their trademarks of spent bullet casing and handgrenade fragmets, beer cans, chow utensils, etc, etc. A good example are fox holes. You can almost bet there were men lying down in the prone position holding machine guns in these fox holes target practicing against the sides of hills, crawling on hands and knees, and other military required training maneuvers spilling out their hard earned money from their pockets for us detectorists to find Anyway, as I walk through these woods where I know they have trained, I am constantly on the look out for fox holes and of course, use my detector to track down clues of any military activity

Didn't have a lot of luck up until about 6:00 o'clock in the evening when suddenly dug this surprising 1912D Barber dime at 5" deep
The Barber dime makes my 7th one found to date
A few minutes later and a few feet away, dug this rosie at 2"
Also found the "zippo" lighter plus a few wheat pennies and a couple of Jefferson nickels just before dark
All cleaned up

Not much but it sure beats a jab in the eye with a sharp stick
Life is good I hope Bean, Bubba, and Elson are winning some big bucks at the casino or at least having a fun time
I'm going detecting back to the same area again today to find more
Ya'll have fun now and thanks for looking...HH....James
