Hi Everyone,

I talked Craig into hunting with me at a new area I accidently discovered while detecting last Saturday :super: We both met up early Sunday morning at this new location, got our gear together, which including the ankle duct tape, :D and the detectors all fired up :hot: ready to go.

It didn't take Craig long finding the first silver coin of the day since we all know he is the "silva magnet" :detecting: when it comes to finding the good stuff :D After a while, I finally found a merc but not before Craig had already found three silver dimes and a bunch of wheats :please:

Craigs first rosie find of the day (a little too blurred )

As the day progressed, we decided to hunt the side of a hill that looked like a promising area. We started at the base of the hill working our way to the top. About five minutes or so later, I got a solid '91 reading on my XLT at 2-1/2" deep. I honestly thought it was going to be another piece of trash that close to the surface. Craig just happened to be close enough to see me flip the plug of soil over I just dug to reveal this unexpected Morgan dollar!! :yikes: After all the yelling and hollaring I did, since this was my second silva dollar found in nearly two years, I couldn't help myself but do a little AU celebration wiggle :wiggle: :D

At the end of the day, I wound up with three silver coins and a total of seven for the weekend. They could stand a good cleaning with toothpaste

Holding all the coins in my hand just one more time before the cleaning

was an unexpected surprise for sure! I'm just glad I found it before you did  Thanks for taking the pics although I look pretty goofy in the first pic  I'm glad you had your camera yesterday!

Thanks again Bubba :D

1904 was the next to last production year for the Morgan dollar. The last year was 1921. Of the 3 varieties minted that year, the San Fransisco Mint is the most valuable, about 35 or 40 bucks in VF condition. Unfortunatley, yours is very worn but a great find just the same. There's gotta be more, go get 'em.
