With more than five decades of experience, Charles Garrett is a pioneer and industry leader in the research, development and marketing of metal detection products.

His passion for metal detection began at an early age when he first used a detector to hunt treasure in the forests of East Texas. He graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, with a degree in electrical engineering following four years as an Electrician Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy.

Following graduation in 1959, Garrett worked for Texas Instruments where he played an integral role in the development of space technology that helped rocket the first man to the moon. In his spare time he began designing, building and selling metal detectors from his home in Garland, Texas. By the late 1960s, Garrett developed and patented the first detector with

One can only admire the work and life of an innovative man that has done so much to enhance the lives of so many people. He changed the world!

I purchased a Hunter in 1964, 2 other BFOs in 1965, a Freedom Ace in1985, and a GTP1350 in 2008. The AT Pro I just purchased is the only one of those I will brag about. I built 2 BFOs in 1964 but Garretts were better than mine.
 
I think his Bank Account is probably what I would most admire.:clap:.. Yeah, having a passion like his paid off .
 
Yeah he started treasure hunting when he was about 15. This was for real treasure and long before coinshooting was even heard of. For years his only detectors were WWII mine detectors. He got tired of them as they were a pain to use and weighed a ton.so he went into his garage/shop and designed and built his own and the rest is history.
