How long does it take clad money to turn color in the ground. I know different conditions get different results. I have dug many clad quarters that are dark brown to black and can't help but wonder how long they had to be in the ground for that to happen. Any Ideas?

Not very long depending on the weather. I have found many under the grass on top of the ground that had already turned brown. Our new coins will not be very collectible coming out of the ground like the good ole silver coins. Plant one in your yard and check on it. I think rain will make them turn quicker.

Chech out my post on setting up coins, you will find clad are copper nickle composition with no silver content. Copper is the reason they turn color so quickly due to acid in grass and soil.
