Clad infested park

There is a city park that is about 4 miles from my house that is infested with clad. At first I was hesitant to go detect this park is it is not very old. Less than 10 years. First trip there my second target was a sterling ring. Dug a few dollars in clad that evening. Third trip there I dug a silver quarter and again found a few dollars in clad. I have been going to this park for a couple of months now and about $90.00 in clad has come out of that park and I still have a good bit of area to work. I think I have cleaned out the worst of the infestation but since it is close to home I can hit it without having to travel. As an example of the amounts of clad I went there for about 4 hours Monday morning and dug $7.70 in clad. Still haven't found that gold ring that has to be there but I have not given up.

With that much clad around, there is bound to be some silver and gold jewelry pieces as well. Silver coins truly can be found anywhere. I have found them in school tot lots and modern era parks. In the meantime, enjoy the clad finds until something better pops up. HH jim tn

Man, with all that clad you can buy a gold ring. Must be nice... KEN

These days many kids (well young people) consider change in their pocket trash and just throw it or drop it anywhere. Sad really, but nice for us. Good luck on more silver.

I went to a picnic area the other day and found an area that was full of pennies. I could see a lot of long grass that i think was hay so they must have had a coin hunt for the kiddies. It getting too hot and muggy so I went home but I will sure go back. There is a horse shoe pit also so will have to check it out along with the volleyball net area.

I worked a city park that I had to use an 8 inch coil in order to be able to detect. EMI from high voltage lines that ran across the park made it difficult to hear anything but shallow targets even with the small coil.I did find quite a bit of clad, one gold plated ring and two sterling rings. In one spot about 2 feet in diameter I found 35 pennies. I suspect they were dumped by a youngster as most of them want nothing to do with small change.

If there could only have been some 1 and 2 Dollar coins in that park:sadwalk:

Very few folks in the U.S. want anything to do with the dollar coins. In the past year I have found 4 one dollar coins out of over $500.00 in clad that I have dug. (I am Retired and go detecting frequently) No 2 dollar coins down south. I did find one at the beach from up your way. Of course it was in terrible condition from the salt.

Wish they would do away with the paper dollar, i like have dollar coins in my pocket instead of having to open your wallet for singles, and of coarse they would drop more it they were in circulation, i understand that we have billions of dollar coins already made, i vote to get rid of the paper and bring on the dollar coin. We should also have two dollar coins.

I don't call it clad I call it Battery and accessories money:detecting:

The gold is there being masked by junk and other items, clear it out, and go back in. Also go back in with another detector and cover the same area, you might surprise yourself.
And if you have a smaller than 8" coil, give it a try.

This park has a relatively small amount of trash. I find some pull tabs, can slaw, melted aluminum globs but nothing to the extent that I have found in other parks.

Most parks have a $45 dollar clad limit...... So you are gonna have to give half of it back! Great Job!

I am very careful to only remove nine or ten dollars at a time so I wont be over the limit. It is a large park but I am shocked at the amount of clad.

I went to that park on Labor day weekend. Went early and by 10am there were close to 1000 people in the park and others looking for a place to park. With that number of people visiting that park for ball games etc I may never get it cleaned of the clad infestation.
