Clad Dimes/nickels

I keep finding newer clad dimes and some nickels with small foil stick-on stars on them. they have all been found in the same area but faily widespread. The stars are variuos colors and sizes and I found one today with a heart on it and a nickle with one on each side and some paint or coloring on one side. Are they targets for a detecting club organized hunt? Most are found only 1" - 2" deep. There is a Girl Scout building near by and might be associated with them.
Thanks, Chuck

Hi Chuck,
You know, I think a lot of things we find fall into this category, stuff that only the person who did it knows for sure...
I've come across coins that were left behind from a detecting competition that had different coloured paint on them.
I tend to go with your Girl Guide theory though. With a daughter that went through the "sticker" phase, I can attest to the fact that those sparkly unicorns, flowers, smiling bunnies and bees end up every where and on everything.

I'm upt to around 15 dimes with sticker and 3 nickels so far! Oh well, I'll just keep picking them up.Even stranger, Saturday in the same area, I found in a small pile on the surface, 2-5 Lira, 1- 10 Lira Turkish aluminum coins and directly under them a 1964 Canadian cent! Do you think the Turks are invading from Canada. Ha! Ha!
