Can someone fill me in here? What is clad?

I assume it is any type of coin not made from a metal like pure copper, silver or gold like all the new coins that now only look like the real thing. Yes no?

Thanks

Clad coins -- 1965 to present

Modern coins that have been in the ground for a while that have aquired the color or patina of the soil .( that can be disclored from its original luster )

Or in case you're married....Clad is about all you have left when your spouse takes your wallet! :rofl:

Wolfgang.....:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

To the rest of you; I guess in general for Canada that would entail anything after 1968 when the mint issued the last real silver coins that year.

Thank you all for the insight and explanations.

Why 1965? I thought the last silver coins were produced up until 1968? :rage:

I'm not arguing here, just trying to learn and get my facts straight. :please: Thanks All!!

I think what he meant was US last silver was 1965 !

That would make sense Joel. Thanks

Clad is what all the coins made since silver ceased to be are made of, cheap layers of base metal sandwiched together with a copper center..

Depends on what part of the world you are in. In the U.S. 1964 was the last year 90% silver coins were minted. After that a few specials were minted that were 40% silver. The government took away our right to own real money and replaced it with Monopoly money.
