CIVIL WAR SILVER LAPEL PIN? I.D. HELP PLEASE

HELLO ALL, NEED SOME ID HELP ONCE AGAIN.
I FOUND THIS PIN IN AN AREA WHERE I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL CIVIL WAR MILITARY BUTTONS. I THINK IT IS MAYBE A LAPEL PIN? IT IS SILVER AND IT HAS A THREADED SHAFT ON THE BACK WITH A ROUND COPPER SCREW ON PIECE.
THE BACK IS MARKED: 1/29 - 12/4 OR 12/H MAYBE, UNDER THAT IT SAYS STERLING BUT THERE APPEAR TO BE 2 MORE LETTERS IN FRONT OF STERLING I CANT MAKE OUT.
LOOKING AT SOME CIVIL WAR BUTTONS I NOTICED AN ALMOST IDENTICAL CASTLE ON AN ENGINEERS BUTTON.
THANKS IN ADVANCE, DAVE

[attachment 49235 back2.jpg]this is the best pic i can get of the back, will try again tomorrow with better sunlight.

to be more accurate, plese type the writing on the back and list its measurements. It is an Engineers insignia for sure. Just not sure on the year yet.

John
