[attachment 329615 DSCN0944.JPG][attachment 329616 DSCN0945.JPG] Ive found these civil war relics but you know whats strange ive never found a three ringer or any kind of civil war bullet other than musket balls around where I hunt they were stingy with bullets around my neck of the woods. My buddy found one 3 ringer on a site we hunt but thats it. Thats just strange to me!

Nice infantry button, that is strange that you wouldn't find any bullets though, unless they worked their way too far down...

Got a brand new deus on the seen gonna see what turns up found all those with at pro with nel coils. does seem strange about the bullets.

My digging buddy, found a button like the one on the right. It's an Infantry button form the Indian wars, post civil war.

Excellent finds, calabash digger!

I like your Eagle Infantry Officer's button. If there is a back mark it can be dated.

I REALLY like your Confederate Infantry Button!! If it measures 25mm it is listed in Albert's Button Book as CS 171A. If it measures 18mm it is listed as CS 171Av. Great finds! Best of luck and...

Calabash Digger,

I have the:

RECORD OF AMERICAN UNIFORM
AND HISTORICAL BUTTONS
BICENTENNIAL EDITION

by ALPHAEUS H. ALBERT

It covers buttons of military, governmental service, veteran organizations, educational and military training institutions, state seals, the Republic of Texas, the Confederate Armed Forces, caricatures and slogans of political campaigns including those of Washington's Inauguration with illustrations and relative values. The years of items covered in my edition are from 1775 - 1976.

It also contains a list of button manufacturers and their back marks with the years of manufacture with specific back marks. Which is a great aid in determining an approximate year of manufacture. Best of luck and...

I have dug many eagle "I" s here in va at civil war sites. Definetly civil war. One previous post, years ago, said they were officer issue, I commented that I had found so many in one camp that they must of been general issue and he provided documentation, on this site, showing the order saying they were for officers. Now it could be Indian war, but your other finds should help date it. Congrats!

its a very interesting site we have found relics that span a hundred years or so from colonial shoe buckle, king george copper ,1860 indian head , shot gun shells paper ones .thanks for the info trying to get educated on relics. man this stuff is addictive!
