Civil War Relics Detectors

Please help me, I am getting overwhelmed in trying to make an intelligent decision on which detector to buy for my husband for Christmas. This would be our first purchase. WE live on 100 acres, 95% wooded, where one section use to be a civil war temporary hospital. Our area also had a sizable Indian population, so Indian artifacts may be of interest too. We have had people on our land from 30-40 miles awya, to detect on our property, and have uncovered many civil war miniballs, bullets, etc...Question: I am wanting to spend in the $500-$600 range, and at this point I THINK I should be considering the Minelab Sovereign Elite, as it fits my price range and I am intrigued by the 17 frequencies and 10" coil size. I had also been looking at the Whites IDX PRO, and many other models from Bounty Hunters, Tesoro, Garrett, and Fisher. I am WAY over my head, and frankly getting a major headache. I do know that it should not be too complicated of a detector, or my husband will probably shelve it, and leave it to me (ha,ha). What do you suggest for a newbie and with our potential finds. Thanks !!!!! Looney Lynne

I like the XL PRO it is easy to set up and as deep as the DFX.the XL PRO has the best ID meter around.
Many coils are made for the XL PRO.

I use the 3x6 ,9.5 amd bigfoot coils with this unit.
