I have a friend who is a big Civil War buff. He is retiring soon and I would like to introduce him to metal detecting. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good book on Civil war relic hunting. It would be a gift for him. Thanks
I Agree Howard Crouch Relic Book is the best book. Just bewared you Friend, you can not just find sites, relics , as in old days. , Many buy this book by Metal detector and get hobby fast and can't find relics. Relic Hunting toughest hobby to be successful in. Chuck
i have a few copies of stanley phillips Excavated Artifacts from Battlefields and Campsites of the Civil War and also his supplement. my copies are in pristine condition, if you are interested in them you can send me a pm. Howard Couch's book is excellent but to me the phillips book is the relic bible. i also have a few first edition copies of Charlie Harris's Civil War relics of the Western Campaign. Harris's book is back full of western info.
