Went out Saturday with my delta 4000 to what was said to be a civil war camp but didn't find anything. I don't know if the creek next to it had flooded so much over the years that it left so much sediment that any relics would have been too deep to detect or that there was just nothing there. disappointing! I think I will go back being I am just learning how to use this detector.

I would dig a test hole and see how deep it is to clay layer maybe a few to give ya a average of the campsite,GL

One thing that has helped me in learning a new machine is to slow down and take my time. It's easy for our enthusiasm to get way ahead of our knowlege.Hope this helps and Good Luck to ya.:detecting:
