This is my 1st attempt to post a picture, can anyone tell me what I have found? (EXTRA QUALITY) stamped on back.

Yes I do believe you got one. Was there troop activity in your area ?
I found a British button and a Mexican war button at a old home site far away from any war activity. Keep that detector swinging :detecting:
 
Yes, I live in Staunton VA and during the Civil war it was a major railroad town. There were many battles in the surrounding area.

John, that is a civil war button. I have hunted in the Tennessee region and have found several of those exact buttons.
