First post on this forum and a great forum it is.Years of experience. These 2 mid air collision mini balls from SC area took each other out.Found with GTA1000 last year. My GTI2500 found my oldest coin to date, 1 reale 176?.Rough shape thats why no pics, found with 9.5 at 8". My best find is a Congressional Medal of Honor won by Apache Scout under General Crook 1870's. I found it in the 1980's with a Compass mag 7.Started metal detecting in the mid 70's with a gold mountain boss. Here in SC for now hoping to find a Slave Tag.I will be heading back to Az soon.

Bill,
You have a super find and in no way am I trying to diminish it. I am having a little trouble decerning the picture. Just for the sake of discussion, aren't the bullets both going in the same direction? If they are, I question the possibility of mid air. Traditional muzzleloaders today are shooting double ball loads. I wonder if the mini ball (conical bullet) was shot that way, or maybe in the excitment of battle two were loaded.
Just a thought, and again neat find.

Ah I had a Compas RM7. Great machine as were all the other Compass detectors I owned during the 70's and 80's.
Would your pic depict a melding of the metals? <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> Quite a find.

Thanks for your review. These bullets are as found along with another 20 bullets via 4 other detectorist. My first thought these were junk compared to other mini balls being found. Took bullets to our club meeting and our expert bullet collector said they are midair collision. After some research have learned people are trying to counterfiet these.
Thanks Bill-fr-az

Hey larry (omaha) when first found my wife said something close to youre comment but if you could actually hold these you would see they are mid-air collision. now re-thiking they were fired from the same side one in front of the other from 2 different shooters. i caint believe the excitement claim just not possible with the weapons at that time. p. s. thought i would get more inquires on the medal of honor than the bullets maybe these are found everday lol be safe
