civil war bullets in columbus ohio

love detecting

New member
Has anybody ever found civil war items in Columbus, Ohio? I know there have been items found in other places like Virginia and other places but just curious if bullets have been found in my neck of the woods? Thanks guys just curious I wish i lived in Virginia or other places where this war happened.

I have not hunted Columbus, so I have to say no to your question, BUT Ohio is rich in Civil War history, especially Columbus. Just West of Columbus was/is Camp Chase. Although you can not hunt camp Chase, you can knock on doors asking permission to hunt property around Camp Chase and other Civil War sites. Google Civil War Columbus Ohio and you will get all kinds of info. Here is one on Camp Chase.

No famous battles in Illinois either but this is what I found this Spring hunting around a Civil War camp in Illinois in three trips to the area. The upper display is the Civil War finds and the belt buckle was not found there, but everything else was.

Hi larry from ill, thats cool that you found all those neat items. No i was just curious to know if anybody has found bullets, or musketballs or anything like that. Guess you would have to go to Fort hayes to find stuff likethat. I have heard that park is hunted out so good luck. Another park that is hard to find coins in is Goodale Park. I dont know if people have problems in Schiller Park would love to find some coins other than a sandy volleyball court around the corner from my home.

Im new to this detecting having had a abscence of some years, the new technology is incredible with these machines.
