Civil War And Silver

Got out to a spot that a buddy got permission for. It has a spring running through that soldiers camped and fought around. The owners said we would be wasting our time as it had been hunted out by professional detectorist and their kids for over 20 years and the last guy that hunted there looked around for 8 hours and didn't find a thing. So I fired up the Etrac and my first signal was a fired Enfield bullet. We looked around for about 4 hours and I found over 12 bullets with a nice mix of Union and Confederate lead along with a nice Staff Officer's button. It was nice to see the spot wasn't hunted out and we showed them what we had found and even shared a few bullets with them. Unfortunately for us the property owners decided to let the grand kids get a chance to save history and we lost the permission. I was looking forward to going back there because it's a huge property and we only covered a small area. That's how it goes some times, just glad we got a chance to look around.
I got out Saturday and was hoping to luck up on some silver so I went to an old church that had a nice area beside it perfect for picnics. I made a line right to a big oak tree and got a nice 12-44 signal and flipped out a nice 1913 Barber dime. I went on to find several wheats, two Mercs, an Indian and a 1916 Barber dime. Turned out to be a very productive spot and a lot of fun to hunt. It's turning dry here so it may be time to focus on some creeks. HH-David

Thanks bud! Yeah seems to be at least one nice keeper left on every hunted out spot. And those old trees are text book perfect sometimes to have an old coin under them.
