You've found another good spot to detect. I like seeing your post and it's always a nice surprise when I see the pictures. Thanks again and HH, Nancy

Nice clad haul CCH. Looks like you were concentrating on the high VDI signals. I'd go back and and see if there's more nickel-range signals...might be a gold ring in the mix. JMHO. Thanx for the pics.

Scott,
You are exaclty right !! I only had a few hours so my goal was to hopefully hit silver but I didnt. This is a HUGE area/park and I wasnt that familiar with it. Fact - NOLA City Park is one of the largest urban parks in the USA at approxiamtely 1,300 total acres. You could realistically MD your entire life in this park. BTW, I did dig up several :pulltab:. and they were plentiful. :drinking: LOL. I plan on hitting it again next month. Wanna come? Thanks for viewing and your comments. CCH.

CCH, you hit the nail on the head as regards your lifetime hunting grounds. I was just eyeballing the park on Googlem Earth. have you done that? I found the house the key goes to. it's in the north section east side mid-way next to a river. It's covered in ivy and the yard hasn't been cut in who knows how long.
I can also make out lots and lots of outlines of buildings long gone. :yikes: I'd be hard pressed to think mders aren't all over this park. Your big question is,"Where do you start?".Your gunna need a bigger machine. :super:
Very congrats.

Thanx for the offer CCH...I'd love to if I could. Sounds like you have a hunting wonderland on your hands. I have 2 spots that are similar ( though not nearly as large) and I've had the same enviable problem of just deciding where to start. I'd do just as you're doing and go in and clear out the shallower, high VDI's in a given area with my 6x10. Next step I would throw my D2 at it (figuratively) and go for solid, deeper signals. I then repeat the coils and go for ever fainter and more questionable signals. Even though I am ALWAYS digging at least some nickel signals, at trashy, pulltab infested spots my last step is my "nickel sweep". I go in and dig ALL signals that VDI around the nickel range. I especially like the signals that jump around but stay centered around nickels..low teens to high 20's. Lotta treasures hiding in there. Good luck CCH and keep us posted.

Nice finds . Sounds like a good spot to spend some time . Congrats on a good hunt .
