Circular DD coils or SEF butterfly?

Which style coil would you prefer and why? I have always thought the circular coils would probably go as deep as the butterfly coils if you go with the width=depth rule. In theory, the round 10" DD should perform as well as the 10x12 DD SEF less the 2" of extra ground coverage. I would also think the 10" round to be a hair lighter. Please enlighten me with your experiences!
Maybe there is more on the performance end of the SEF that I'm not aware of.
