many of you know I've been hunting a circa 1800 house and acreage to little success....well this morning I decided to get strategic and went to an embankment next to a old side hill garage.... well this belt plate was on edge between several rocks.... I used some soap water and my brass brush to clean her up..The cast iron/pewter plate looks to be around 1800.......I'm thrilled with this find....
I've seen the design before but will need to research it more...I'll post the back in the response section....just so some new folks know I probably hunted this site for a total of about 10 times/20 hours before I got lucky.....happy hunting...aloha johny mc.
