Cibola

Does anyone have a Tesoro Cibola detector? I just bought one and I'm only getting 5 hours out of my battery, and I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem with theirs.

I got one friday and used it 3 hrs friday and 6 hours yesterday and the battery seems as stout as ever. I was told that it would use batteries but as long as I keep finding bullets and such with it I dont care, I will just keep carrying an extra battery or two. I have never owned anything except garretts and fishers and friday was my first day with a tesoro(cibola) and I was proud of the little unit. It dont favor much and to get the most out of it you need to use headphones which I cant use down here in these thickets, but yesterday I was diggin droped bullets 10-12 inches deep with it. If you are only getting 5 hours out of it you may need to send it back to the factory. Would the settings have anything to do with battery life? Like, sensitivity being up all the way, threshold being up all the way and useing the pinpoint button a lot. Maybe we need to ax David, he will know...d2

Rick--I don't know if you're using headphones or not, but if you're not, you will probably only get five hours or so on one battery. Generally, I get about 15 hours or so before I get only 3-4 beeps. You may have a bad battery. I doubt the detector has a problem. Make sure you use alkalines. Regular batteries just don't last long.

Use headphones if at all possible. This will conserve battery life. Use Alkalines! Heavy Duty types won't cut it. You should get around 15 or more hours on a new battery but more signals (trash sites) means more target responses which will drain a battery faster than a less targets per hour site will. If your following our suggestions and you still only get 5 hours, call Tesoro and see what they advise. I use the Vaquero and get 15+ hours. The HOT coils and circuitry will burn batteries somewhat faster than the U/Max models, but they have depth. Just ask d2. He's getting excellent depth on bullets right out of the gate. Hope this helps. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

Thanks for all the info on my cibola, I've been hunting very trashy areas with it so that may have been a factor in the battery life, and I always use headphones my hearing is not what it use to be and I need all the help I can get,Thanks again guys.
