Cibola with dd for tot lots?

jlw

New member
I primarily detect the tot lots with my cibola and the 5.75 concentric was just wondering if the dd would be more beneficial in the sand and gravel, any thoughts on this?

Personally I like the standard 9x8 coil for tot lots. Covers more ground and can still get fairly close to poles. Turn the sensitivity down a little and slide coil carefully towards pole and can get real close. I like the concentric for the tot lot coverings I've found, though I have not found a tot lot with gravel. The lots I see are mostly either a sand that doesn't present much of a ground balance problem or wood chips that are very neutral. I have run across a couple that are shredded tire rubber. They have been pretty neutral too.

well the d.d. is renowned for getting less mineral interference, and its great on sand and gravel,,i use the cibola (or Laser Triden 1 as its called in England) fitted with the 12 x 10 d.d. overlay coil,,you get around 20 - 25% more depth on the same coins and it works like a minelab on salt wet,,totally silent but i believe deeper ,,and with a lightning fast recovery after iron,,(,thats what kills a minelab,,gt,,or any other multi frequency machine),,,youll love it,,,,P>S> tot lots,,,thats a school field right?? rgds ,,,comcat:ukflag:

that has the swings, teeter-totter, slide, and other play equipment that is located in an area that has some sort of surface medium. generally this will be saw dust, woodchips, bark chips, sand, pea gravel or something else designed to help cushion a child's fall. Some locations have the play equipment surrounded by a modern rubberized mat surface.

Most places here in NW Oregon, USA, have some sort of wood by-product. Some locations along the coast have woodchips or bark chips or sand. I've hunted one elementary school in central Oregon that uses cherry pits or something like that. Some schools had shredded tires (not the steel belted types).

So, "tot lots" are not a playing field as such but a dedicated playground site with play equipment and, usually, not always, surrounded with a cushioning medium that is easy top toe-scuff and recover coins and other small targets easily.
