Cibola w/ 10x12 dd coil

SWMO Mark

New member
Has anyone used the 10x12 dd coil on their Cibola? I would be interested in hearing how it performed. Thanks, Mark

This is a video of my modded Cibola.
I think that a factory example can have same air performances.

The coin is a Euro and akille68 reports 50 centimeters on it (about 19 inches) running super tuned.

I have used the 12 x 10 on my Cibola. I have not dug anything near 19 inches deep with the 12 x 10 although I haven't used that coil a lot. So far I have spent most of my hunting time with the 9 x 8 on the CIbola. The 12 x 10 covers a lot of area. It does not pinpoint as well as the standard 9 x 8 but it's not too bad. It also makes the Cibola nose heavy ... more nose heavy than I like; although some others may not care. If you have open territory to cover, the 12 x 10 does the job.

I just bought a 10" elliptical DD coil for my Cibola this week and the Cibola freaked out when I tried to use it.

I can't get a stable threshold. It chatters like a mother and is not usable at all.

The stock coil and 5.75" concentric work great but the machine doesn't seem to like the 10" Wide Scan. I doubt it would like the 10x12 any better.

I put a call in to Tesoro tech support today. Didn't get a call back but it was late in the day when I called. I'll call Monday to see if I can talk to a tech.

Either I got a bad coil or the Cibola doesn't like the big DD coils.

I hope I can get it to work with the Cibola because it's such a great machine.

I'll post a new message to the forum when I get the straight dope from Tesoro.

Cheers.

I hope you and the factory get it all worked out. I did not have any problems with finding threshold or using the 12 x 10 DD (widescan) on my Cibola. I could run sensitivity nearly wide open (well into the red) in fairly good ground with the 12 x 10 where I have to back down just a little (to lower edge of red) with the standard 9 x8.

Was that with the stock Cibola or the modified one?

I really, really hope I got a bad coil instead of the coil not being compatible with the detector. I like DD coils better than concentrics and I'd love to be able to use the 10" DD with my Cibola.

You may have to send your Cibola in with the coil to get your detector tuned for that coil. I was going to get a 10x12 for my Cibola but when I spoke with Vince at Tesoro he said that it was a possibility that things may have to get tweeked for that coil. I believe that is one of the downfalls of not having a non manual GB machine, am I correct in saying this, anyone?

Macaco,
That was with the stock Cibola and the 12 x 10 DD. Worked fine. I did not have anything retuned. Maybe I was lucky. Ground is frozen here and I haven't been out with the Cibola since I moved the ground balance to the front panel, except for a quick check to see that it comes on and basically works.
Cheers!
