Cibola runs out of battery life to fast

Does Tesoro have a solution to this? Plus, the beeps are hard to count. I like to be at max power when hunting but one square runs down too fast. Has Tesoro got a solution for that on the Cibola?

I can do several hunts with a good quality 9 volt. Not sure how many hours but I'd guess around 20 hours or more. Using the internal speaker versus headphones will run it down a lot faster. I do find that when the battery gets low it seems to do it all of a sudden. In other words, I don't notice much reduction in performance until the battery gets really low and the unit quits working reliably. But I do like the idea of converting to AA batteries; should be cheaper and probably last longer, too.

going down. If you want to stay at max, you better change that battery after one day. I'm like you, AA batteries would last longer.

I read an article about the 8x9 tested on the Lobo ST for coin hunting and the report was highly favorable. I forgot what mag it was from or maybe a website but I may have to give it a try also. Take care.

That can make a big difference, as well as what the previous poster mentioned about headphones.

Perhaps using 6 AA's would be better, if one could devise a good holder. Having the batteries located under the arm cradle as in other Tesoros might work, it would also give the detector better balance.

I'm not saying it's possible but I'll try to obtain a battery 6-AA cell pack arm-rest to mount on the Cibola, Let me try to obtain one and then If I do find one I'll buy a used Cibola to perform the mod.

Will even add the speaker underneath the arm-rest so more of the weight is shifted to the tail end of the detector making it balance out even better.

Will look factory made too, I'll keep you posted,

This is a picture of the mod that has had the cable put inside the detectors shaft the switch is so that you can go from the 9 Volt (when it runs low out in the field) to the 6xAA. the guy that did this mod did it himself and made a good job of it.
He also said that he put 2 compressors or transistors in it I'm not that sure of the correct terminology but he said that he put 2 things in it. (i will see him on Tuesday and ask him again)
The balance feels great and because he did the mod himself he said that it cost him less than 10 pounds.
