Cibola Depth ?

SWMO Mark

New member
I think my Cibola is out of tune. With disc. on zero, sens. on max, and supertuned. I am only getting a quarter at 7" airtest. What depth is anyone else getting with this same setup? I have the original Cibola with the low tone. I heard that Tesoro could change it to a higher pitch. Anyone know how much they charge for this mod? Thanks for any help. Mark L PS: this is with the 8x9 coil

I am not sure of this at all but I think the moisture in the air has something to do the air testing. Dry air seems to give less distance than air with more moisture. I have a Prizm IV and a Vaquero and air test them all the time when I can't do anything else (cold or dark outside) and they keep changing sometimes by an inch or two. Could be the moon but I know they change.

Hi Sven; I don't know, but could you be getting a little bit of 2 box effect by checking air test between the coil and the control box? Bill in Texas

That seems a bit less than I'd expect as I do that well or better with several umax series machines. However, I think you might do well to do the same test outdoors or in an area where you are absolutely certain there isn't any electrical interference. I've seen several target ID machines give some pretty far off numbers/ids in my house only to straighten right up when I get away from electrical sources and the threshold hum on a couple of my beep and dig machines (when set in all metal) really pulsates. Anyway, something to try before calling Tesoro.

Mark, try different sweep speeds.Different detectors react better to a slow or fast sweep with the target.

It didn't matter if the ruler was below the coil or above it. Measurements were the same.

That does seem a little short in supertune configuration on a quarter.
When I bought mine which is a low tone, the dealer was out of the high tone model. If I recall correctly, I think the price was only 15.00 more for the high tone at the time. But I left with the low tone expecting to use the Cibola the next day. It was my 1st Tesoro. I still have the Cibola, but more somehow showed up at home.
Might want to contact Tesoro to see the in & out for a high tone mod at this day and aged economy.
