Cibola Coil Question

Prospector

New member
What would be the best coil for the Cibola other than the stock coil for jewerly and relics without loosing a lot of depth. I just don't like the coil that come on the unit and would rather have a round one and just a little smaller. If any of you Cibola users could help I would appreciate it. If you have used the eight inch or 5.75 that would help. What is the approximate depth with the stock coil vs. these smaller ones? Thanks in advance!

I have not used the 8 inch at all so can't comment.
I don't go out for the main purpose of jewelery, just local for coin and whatever else is in the mix, and relic. For relic, I normally use the Tejon out of the Tesoro machines I own.
I do have and use the 5.75 both concentric and wide scan.
The concentric is best for most hunting, and the wide scan may give an edge for high mineralized soil.
It's been a while since I used the stock coil as I hunt trashy areas the most. I don't have any measurements, but the 5.75 coil seems to get good depth.

When I purchased my Vaquero, I looked at the various posts on the coils and it seems everyone liked the 5.75 concentric coil.
Many said that they didn't use the stock coil much after trying the smaller coil and almost got the same depth.
I use it all the time when hunting around old home sites where there is much trash.
I think you will like this coil, plus you can get in tighter places to hunt.

Currently using the 5.75 concentric instead of the stock coil. Seems to work pretty well in trashy ground. :detecting:

If you get the 5.75 concentric coil, you'll probably never take it off.

That's how it usually goes.

HH,

The 5.75 concentric is a great coil and you won't need to worry about loss of much depth. In highly mineralized ground the 5.75 DD or widescan will get more depth than the concentric. The DD may also have an edge in really trashy areas where separation between targets is more important than depth.

The 5.75 coil is my favorite on the Silver uMax. I don't think I have taken it off since I put it on.
