Christmas Day Hunt

I hope everyone had a Nice Christmas with family and friends . I was lucky and
spent my day detecting with my father at the old homesite where he grew up. The home
is now gone, and although we had detected it many times before, we were able to make
pretty nice finds. The site is now a pasture where his cattle graze.

We found 2 quarters , 41 & 42 , 3 rosies & 2 mercs & a few wheaties .
marbles, china doll parts, a checker (I think) , a couple of gromets, a square nail,
a buckle , a metal lid and a whats it ( maybe from a suspender ?) Such a thrill to walk
familiar ground and find family objects . Very , Very Nice Holiday ! And one exceptional
day for hunting . Thanks for looking and HH All .

Hey Terri, Glad you spent the day detecting with someone special! Some great finds too! Look at the condition of the wheats??? Super! That is a suspender buckle (at least that's what we call them). Nice silver. It's always nice to see that silver disk pop out of the ground. You had a great day, to be able to detect at all and with your dad too? I think they say ---- Priceless??:)

Thanks George , It was special , Dad found most of the silver. He remembered
how his older sister would steal his money and before she was caught with it,
she would throw it off the back porch :argue: That back yard is probably full

wow, great hunt terri! you and pop did real good, and ya'll should do that more often. there's nothing like the feeling you get when you start finding stuff your own family members lost long ago. that is a neat suspender buckle, and it's an old one too. as usual, george was right about it! you are right about the grommets; that's exactly what they are. a nice variety of coins and relics, and silver is always good! congrats, and hh!

Thanks Louis, I hope you and yours had a Great Holiday and you got
out hunting some ! Dad did real good with the Pirate I gave him , he likes
the tone only machines and he gave me back the BH 202 . I had forgotten
what a thrill it was to pull up stuff that belonged to your own family. The suspender
buckle , lid , grommets and square nail came from an old share croppers shack,
where workers lived on my great grand daddys tobacco farm. So many places to
hunt there, rained most of my days there, but rode the gators and located all the
old homesteads, I'll be back , Aint no place like home .....HH

I hope, and am sure all your other friends here hope it isn't another 8 years before you do it again.

Beautiful landscape......

Thanks EL , Traveling alone was not near as bad as I had feared , and will be
a very frequent trip . Besides I made a cute detecting buddie named Rosie, think
I can train her to carry my gear :lmfao:

with your dad. It's times like those that make this hobby so wonderful. That truly IS what it's all about. I'm glad you had a nice Christmas...and I hope you have a great new year too.

Congrats on a great hunt Terri! You and your dad did real well! I am glad you got a chance to hunt with him! Good job on the silver and the coll buckle. I hope you had a great Christmas, and will have a very good Newy Year, Beale.
