Christmas Break Starts Early:

Hi everyone, we've got an ice storm here and school was cancelled. :clapping: I'm sure there's a lot of you that this weather system has hit hard. Shoot, even Las Vegas got hit. Unreal. Hope all is well and everyone is safe and warm. We've not lost power......yet, over 40,000 in Central IL has lost power and it's still coming down. When outside, I heard the trees snapping and popping. Even heard some thunder. Here's a picture, but it doesn't show too much ice on things. It does show my bell needs a new coat of paint. Take care, Nancy

Nancy with all the heat that is being generated at your state capital you would think the ice would melt really fast. I love your bell. Stay warm and safe. HH Dennis in Idaho

One would think that Dennis, but our Gov. lives in Chicago, the 'Windy City' :nono: and only flies to our state capital Springfield. He didn't want to live where the city is called 'Governors of All Evil' :argue: Just kidding..... I looked up the meaning of 'Springfield' and couldn't find anything. Believe me, all Illinoisans aren't all that bad. Just the ones in politics. :help: [attachment 113025 images.jpg]

This GLOBAL WARMING is starting to to get to me.You have ice ,i have snow.Haven't had this much snow in ALONG time.I trim trees for the power company.I'm sure we will be out getting trees and limbs off the wires.Hope the ice melts soon.

The ice is still here and we had more ice-rain today along with small pellets of snow. It's not bad here. Some limbs have broke from the heavy ice, but that's about it besides a few towns had power outages for a few hours, but they have it back on now. Very lucky. HH and be safe, Nancy

Hey you guys. Getting sustained 70 miles an hour winds tonight! (Dealing with only 50 mile an hour ones now.) Not looking forward to the 90mph gusts!!! Been here in Puget Sound area for 22 years and never seen it like this. Just drove from shopping hell and it was 18 miles of ice rain. It's gonna take me a bit to get all warm and fuzzy again!! Generator, batteries and oil lamps are going to be our friends tonight for sure.

Edit: It looks like the wind's top speed has been revised down a bit. Thank God! (I just hate pulling trees off my house and vehicles.)

Hi down here in Watseka, Illinois.. Bad night without power, internet and phone for a day and a half.. Had to be cut out of my daughters mobile home because of downed trees!! 2" of ice and -3 degrees and 50 mph gusts.. Its -2 right now and 20 mph winds!! Stay warm and be safe!! Merry Christmas All!!!

You did have it bad. We've got the ice too, but was only about 1/2 inch. People around here had been without power that long also. We were very fortunate here in Eureka. I wonder if Rob C is in the same boat as others. We've not heard anything from him since the ice/snow storm. Glad your power is back on. Watseka isn't all that far from here. Maybe we'll cross paths when we're out hunting. HH to all,
Nancy

Illinois is getting hit! You guys be safe. We are getting heavy snow (Seattle) right now and winds are to hit again in the wee hours. Haven't lost electricity yet. Side streets are going to be a mess tomorrow!! Whats up with Houston getting snow!!!??? Craziness!!

I think it is Al Gore's fault with all of this global warming.

Hi Nancy, I was going to leave tomorrow but have to put it off till Thursday. I called down by Memphis and it was rain and 40. If I can make it to there I'll be alright. There was a guy down there wanting to come north and hasn't been able to leave for days. How's the roads down by you?

I'm working on the driveway now. I'm getting the 4" of snow off but the 2" or 3" of ice isn't going to move. Rob

I'm glad you're OK. Larry and I were worried since we hadn't heard anything since the snow/ice storms. There's been so many without electricity around here. Larry just got home from Bradley, IL and he said he had to drive 35 mph. The East and West roads were real bad. I'm sure he'll tell you more. You be careful out there. HH, Nancy

Hi Rob,

I doesn't look good down this way. It is 26 degrees and raining. The highways are getting very slick and there were 6-7 vehicles in the ditches. I would put off any travel today if you can.

Larry
