Christmas 14k gold.

After a long Christmas day, it was an hour before dark, I decided to do a little tecting. I had to get out of the house after family left. We have a park in our housing development that can only be accessed by the tenants. Only paths take you to it. The playground is wood chips and is as hard a concrete. I only found 5 pieces of foil in the tot lot and no coins. With only 30 minuets left I hit the grass. I started playing around with the AT mode set really high at slow speed. It was a little noisy but not bad. This place was a farm before it was a housing development. I was hoping to find a little something. The modern coins started coming, then I thought I found a foreign coin at 64. Than another and another coin. It was about dark, but I had to leave more 64 reading unchecked. When I got home I found out they were gaming tokens. I know there is more out there. I also found 14k gold ear ring backing. The only thing good about it is the F-70 hit it hard at 4".

14k

What does "set really high" mean, John. Do you mean sensitivity?
Some nice results, especially that little ear ring back.

Love the gold earring back. What made you dig it?

Meeeeee, too. That's my usual low DISC limit.

You hear a lot of talk about meters being innaccurate and useless. I believe most of that comes from a decade or more ago, a legacy concept we all cling to and repeat, like parrots.
Well, Fisher seems to have broken that paradigm with the F70. I find it is very accurate down to any depth it will signal on in DISC mode. Only at the extreme limits will it get squirrely - and that's pretty extreme.

When I get a deep, mellow, solid signal, I don't put a lot of stock in the meter. I dig it anyway. The discrimination sound is the overiding factor for me on deep signals. Have pulled my deepest coins using that mode of operation.

keep on diggin'
