CHOOSING A PROPER BEACH COIL

Hi everyone!

I am going to upgrade to the White's V3i and I want to know what is the best coil to use for a semi-non trashy beach. I have heard butterfly is good 12" coil. I cover a lot of beach and got really good with my DFX unit. Time to upgrade because I want to find more gold! Thanks.

The same coils you used with your DFX will still work on the V, you might not be able to use the Boost feature with the older coils though. The 12" conical seems to be very popular for depth and coverage and as said in another post, the Bigfoot on a beach really cleans up to a depth of 6 to 8 inches. The stock coil works just fine and the 10X12 SEF is OK, but heavier, as well. If I was beach hunting, and I would love to on some tropical beach right now, I would choose the coil in the order mentioned.

I have used the Eclipse 950 coil and the 10" stock coil on Pensacola Beach and both worked well in dry sand, in wet sand you would need to turn on salt compensate which is normal but again, they both worked really well.

Thank you for your information. I appreciate getting user advice verses the claims made by the manufactures.

well. I got my brand new v3i and wireless headphones. drove to maryland and bought brand new for$1250.00 what a deal from a real nice guy! I am going to use the 10" stock dd for a while I am sure this will be sufficient for most beaches. thanks for the input!
