Choosing a detector - AT Pro and EMI?

Never had the F5 but I did own the Omega for a while and the EMI drove me nuts:rant: on the Omega. Sometimes I just had to put it back in the truck and use another detector. Have owned the At Pro for a little over a year now and there was one time under some power lines that give me some fits but was able to drop sen. down one bar and keep hunting. :clapping:

I had a Omega 8000 with 3 coils,, bought it new,, I liked it,, but the EMI drove it nut's,,,,I have 2 AT Pro's and love them,
I have hunted the same sites with my AT's and no EMI problems.....I have run into one site up close to a building that has something
that makes EMI,,,but it bothers my other units to...
I have made better finds with my AT pro's...
The last site that I tried to use the 8000,, I had the Sens down in the 40's and it was still bothered,,,,the AT Pro will run at full Sens there....
Don't know anything about the F-5,,, but had the F-70 and F-75 and they were bothered by EMI...

I've no expierience with the others mentioned, but do have and use an at pro, which has a frequency shift (4slightly different) to avoid interference from other machines or emi. I've not had any emi problems with it.

I run the ATP and have experienced some EMI from overhead power lines. I quesstimate that the lines were about 18' overhead and to clear the field I had to back away from them approx. 10 yds. and decrease my sensitivity by two notches. What gives me a real fit is hunting a home where there is an electric fence. In those circumstances knockin sensitivity back about 2 notches quiets it down. However if I want to max sensitivity in a real productive area I disregard the blip, blip, blip and read thru the tones.

Haven't had any emi issues with mine. I can tell you it will toast the omega 8000 and the f5 performance wise. First of all the At Pro has a 15klhz frequency which right off the bat make it more sensitive to gold than the omega or F5 . Plus you can hunt in fresh water or salt water Up to 10 feet depth no problem. Can't do that with the omega or F5 . Plus you can hunt in rain with the At Pro don't have to worry about getting it wet. I've owned the At pro 1 month and have found 4 rings with it in that time . Three off them have been gold. You can't go wrong with the At Pro. It will pay for itself in no time. HH

I own 7 high end detectors. The latest being the Minelab CTX 3030. iMO there is no detector any better concerning EMI than the AT Pro. The phase shift on it should eliminate any EMI situation. Before you jack around with phase shifting try reducing sensitivity first. I have over 1000 hours on the Pro and only had EMI problems once. Right by an electrical generating station. Lowered sense. Problem solved.
