Found in old mining camp in NV. The two pieces were loosely stuck together back to back. Made of thin brass, too fragile to be a spoon handle. Pictured on 1/4" graph paper. Did a search for J G McDonald's, no luck. Any ideas?
Thanks Dave

The metal was so thin and fragile that I could barely touch it and it would fall apart. I was able to keep detecting and finding small pieces. I put them together when I got home and made a sketch. Did not think of taking a picture.
Some of the pieces were about only 1/8"-1/4" and, as I said, very thin. I assume it is brass with the tin or zinc corroding away leaving it so brittle.
