Chips in coil?

Hello, I have a question for all of you expert detectors. I am mainly a bottle digger but I have got into detecting recently. I take my Garrett 550 to places that most people probably don
 
:wiggle: Purchase a couple of coil covers for your machine use them till there wore out and install another one. Good luck.

Pick up a coil cover and solve the problem. You would have to cut deep to hit the windings and you can patch if you wish. Do you have the Crossfire coil or the Proformance 7x10 coil?

What do you recomend if you have a coil and cannot find a cover, like for Garrett 12.5 crossfire? I cannot find a supplier for this size.-- John

FYI
Found a cover for the 7X10 at Rons Detectors

Also, Kellyco has most sizes, including the 12.5" but not the 7X10 or 10X14
Ron has the 10X14 cover.

Try clicking on the Garrett banner above and go to their site or Kellyco probably has them. I wouldn't worry to much about the nicks on the 7x10 coil as it's tough as nails but a cover would save you from any future problems especially if you're banging it around on sharp objects.
