Chickamauga Bullets ID Needed

45-70 Springfield bullets from Spanish / American War and WW1 eras. They are everywhere around the Chickamauga and Fort Oglethorpe area.

Why are so many of those bullets found in that area? HH TomB

This area had Ft. Oglethorpe. There are old firing ranges all over the place. I know one right on the edge of the park boundry.

The military took maneuvers on the battlefield, even built stables. The original ground was altered in many areas of the park. Around the turn of the century the park was put under a different secretary in Washington and they attempted, as much as possible, to restore the park to its original condition. The officer's housing is still present, about one block from the park welcome center.
