Chicago Dave kicked my butt this weekend :cam:

I still need to take pics of my stuff but Dave was having a killer weekend. I guess I shouldn't have talked him into going after all
I drove up Friday afternoon and Dave was already in the water and as I drive up he snags a 52 class ring. The water is getting mighty cold around here but we have gold fever. The gold band in the 3rd pic is marked 1918 and does anyone know what the other ring in the 3rd pic represents.I have found 3 similiar and one is dated 1925 but don't know what they mean. He found a couple more nice pieces and when I have time I'll post.
First pic is Dave walking up with the ring and second is all cleaned up

Good Hunting

Keith-

You guys impress the hell out of me. I'm a land and sometimes beach shore guy but your success is making me want to get my feet wet.
What is your normal approach? Do you wade fresh water beaches with submersible detectors? Do you use sand scoops to recover your targets and how do you see where to pinpoint with moving water issues, et al? How deep in the water do you normally go?

We are in the water and hunt as deep as we can go.There's alot of stuff to be found in deeper water in what is called the panic zone were it goes over someones head and they start flailing around. You need a sturdy long handled scoop, Dave and I both use the Sunspot scoop with the wood handle and large stainless steel basket for prying in the clay and rock when needed. As far as pinpointing it just takes practice unless you have a cz20 that has that feature but really isn't needed. You need a fully submersible detector, I hope this helps
