Chevron Nugget Value

Gerry in Idaho

New member
One of my Successful Customers found this rare beauty in Nevada and I wonder what the going rate would be for a stunner like this?
If I am not mistaken, the wt is 3 grams.

I always hear of guys who say they can get this and that, but when it comes down to it... I don't see it happen.
Show me the money!!!! or tell me who will really pay for beautiful gold.
If anyone out there knows, please email me direct at gerrys1det@cableone.net

Certainly an "Eye Catcher"

Nice Find Mark M.

Wow fantastic nugget....what makes gold do the chevron formation?

Alan

My understanding is the gold is precipitated into a cavity or vug, or grows if you like. The one above is absolutely beautiful and should fetch a very high price from a collector especially with the current gold price.

Hey Gerry,
I often hear that as well. But where would a guy go if he wanted to cash in on his prize?
This is one of my better pieces with some chevrons.

Dave at Goldbay seems to get good prices for nice gold like that.

I'm getting the best prices ever by just sending it off to a refiner.( not as nice as that piece tho)
A 4500 costs less than 4oz here in Australia now!

That's a real nice one. Something like that I would have to hang on to for the enjoyment and show.
I found some last year and one had a little quartz in it. The wife liked it, so I took it to a jeweler to have it made into a necklace piece. It almost covers a dime. Yeah, she wore it once. I should have kept it as a nugget.

I like it more on a necklace. Why don't you wear it any?

Nice Find. Thanks for sharing.

Gus, That too is a beauty.

Funny how you always hear about nuggets selling for Top Dollar, but when it comes right down to it. I just don't see the proof. Or at least they are keeping it to themselves?

Thanks for showing.

Gerry

I just don't wear any jewelery. Got used to it due to all the years I worked around high voltages (power plants, substations, etc) and working around various machines (machinery, locomotives, ship engines, tanks etc), for safety reasons. Electrical and/or mechanical. I seen a few accidents others had because they didn't remove jewelery. Some were not pretty at all. I got an early habit of not wearing jewelery. So it became habit that I got so used to it, that I don't feel comfortable wearing any jewelery to include when I'm not working now. And I do not wear a wedding ring since minutes after I got married. My wife knew a few of my co workers who had accidents, understands why I don't wear jewelery, and has been fine of me not wearing jewelery including the wedding ring. It would now just bother me.

Anyway, your nugget which is just awesome. That would be something IMO that I would have to leave in it's natural state, and hang onto it, to enjoy it as is. It is just so nice.
As far as a necklace, I think that's fine, but to have a piece attached to it so it can hang on a gold chain, to me, took something away from the one I have. I don't disapprove anyone doing it, I would have rather had mine left alone. But I did it for the wife because she stated she really liked the bits of quartz mix. She wore it the one time only so far, so I won't ask her why she hasn't since. All I can do is guess the weight, bulk, maybe some sharp edges may be a little annoying - maybe she doesn't want to take a chance of loosing it from our outdoor activities. Maybe she lost it already and and is afraid to bring it up:unsure:

Hi Gerry,

I've seen quite a few Rye Patch chevon nuggets over the years. To be frank it's sub par. It shows little symmetry which IMHO is the most desirable quality in a chevon nugget. Still I'd think it would fetch 5 x spot easy.

My offer $161.25 ($1000 spot)

Yo Guys...Skillfully made into jewelry, pendants, posts, rings & such...that gold should go for an absolute minimum of 3X spot ... I made a living off of gold nugget jewelry back in the early 1980's and it's the only way to max out the value today... You either need to teach your self simple nugget jewelry making skills or hook up with someone like El Dorado who will give you a good deal and do a good job... My 2 cents...Cheers, Uncle Ron in the Dubyah

3 x spot. 3000 US$ per oz.
Jewellry in low gold price times is a good way to value add but at these prices its getting
a tad expensive for the average buyer.
We have sold a lot as jewellry in the past but time is better spent detecting these days.
