Chester County and Lancaster County PA

Research the Susquehanna River. There's alot of history of people traveling the river in colonel times. Start with Harrisburg. The Schuylkill river in south eastern pa. has given up coins from that time period as well.

hello, i used to live just se of these two counties, living in the oxford/kennet square area. just about anywhere you can swing your coil is a good place to go, the whole area being rich in history. hh,

I grew up in Chester Co. and, being Mennonite, visited the Lancaster area all the time. While I don't have any specific suggestions, there were tons of very old buildings still standing, a lot more than I see (or at least recognize) here in the NE. (That's likely because they seemed to build with stone a lot there then, making the old buildings more recognizable.)

My sister still lives there so I hope to get down in the spring or summer. I haven't visited since I started metal detecting a few years back but am looking forward to it. Thinking about this reminds me of the old octagonal schoolhouse that was still there but falling apart when I was little. I'll have to see if I can get permission to dig there for one.

You should do well. Happy hunting.

I live in berks county. And like they all have said, there are alot of old schools and churches, in this area. Do some research on line and just pick one place, Ur almost sure to find something old. :detecting:
