Chest pack ?

Finally found what looks to be a nice affordable chest pack with shoulder straps for the GT. I was just reading the specs on the pack and noticed that it touts a magnetic type closure instead of a zipper. So, I got to thinking...Will the magnet have any effect on the operation of the GT?? Help.

I don't think I would want a magnet near the electronics of the gt. A magnetic field could hurt or affect the electronics. Velcro is a lot safer. I have my gt box in a Minelab bag for it. Hip, shoulder, neck, or mount on shaft with it. I wear mine on my neck and shoulder because of the weight and love it. HH-Mark

John, not sure, too bad they didn't use Velcro.I use to go to my local Army surplus store to find a decent bag.Good Luck Ron

Well, bummer. Can't really get a good picture of the pack online. I think when it gets here I'll see about getting a couple of velcro strips sewn on by the local shoe repair shop. Thought I had the problem solved when I got a fishing chest pack. However, the support strap went around my neck. I've had 2 car accident whiplashes and the old neck didn't like the strap

Just contacted Minelab. A guy by the name of Bryan answered. He had no idea what a fishing chest pack looks like, (his words) and he said I needed to call the manfacture of the chest pack and magnet and ask them. Thanks.:veryangry:

Second page in Sovereign Accessories Sticky you'll find various thread links on chest mounting bag ideas/types, along with stuff on binocular harnesses to hold the bag tightly against your chest. Scroll down the 2nd page in the sticky as there are numerous thread links in different messages refering to it. For my Minelab bag, I prefer to just throw it around my neck and put my left arm thru it. That way it sits high on my left upper chest out of the way so I can see my feet when water hunting, yet I still have easy access to the controls. If I'm not mucking with the controls I sling it behind my back on the upper left shoulder that way. Keeps it even higher out of the water.
