Chest mounted MXT

Rob (IL)

New member
I was told that Steve from Idaho posted a chest mounted MXT on this forum. I can't find the mod. Was it one of the posts that got lost(hacked)? I'd like to see a repost. Rob

This is the mod that I made on my MXT to chest mount it.First I had to drill out the rivets inside the box to remove the old stem. Be careful not to drill into the wires that go to the display. I used the wires from the box to the display and did not shorten them. I used a piece of aluminum 3/4" wide and 3/16" thick about 4" long to attach the display to the box. This has to be drilled and a thread tapped the match the screw that holds the display on to the old stem. The aluminum has to be bent at an angle so that the display sets at about a 90 degree angle to the box. The wires from the display to the box runs on top of the aluminum strip. The short piece of tubing is from an old detector stem or you can use a piece of copper pipe 3/4" in dia. You have to cut a small rectangular hole in the tube to get the plug through that is on the wire harness. Also holes have to drilled in the tube to put screws through to the box to hold it together.I had to make a guard over the trigger switch so thet it would not get caught on something. I used a piece of light aluminum strap and bent it to fit.

Ok, thanks Steve and thank you Gary for your help. Rob

that one looks really nice and practical, I have a doubt, how do you use the pinpoint?
