Chest mounted control & coil

What coils do you prefer? I modified a chest mount for the Infinium and now I find the 10x14 coil very heavy after a short time. I ordered the 5x10 dd and I hope that will help. I wish there was a 8x11DD for it, I just think the 10x14 is too large for my use.

Man, I have every factory coil for my Infinium. That 5"x10" is a great search coil and I've used it extensively over the years. It's very lightweight, gets good depth and handles the toughest mineralization that ya can toss at it. I've been using the stock 10"x14"DD alot more over the past year than I have since I've owned the Infinium. My wife bought me a straight rod kit from Reidman(?). It's very well balanced with the stock search coil and control box mounted on the shaft. I actually have to kinda push the coil down to the ground as opposed to constantly lifting up on the nose heavy front end with the stock shaft. I used to always hip-mount back when I was usin' the stock shaft. I must tell ya, that 10"x14" Mono coil is awesome for the beach. Very leightweight compared to stock coil and excellent depth and ground coverage. All of the search coils have their place.:garrett::detecting:
Best of luck to ya!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

Thanks for the input! I will be using the machine in the Dale Minning district east of Twentynine palms. We do make it to the beach several times a year too. I was looking at the 8" mono for the beach. My wife has an Infinium on the way and I know the 10x14 is way too heavy for her. How is the 5x10 at the beach? Do you recommend the 8 or 10 mono coil for the Lady?

5"x10" is great for the beach, just not for diving. If you use it in the surf, the wave action has a tendency to make the front toe of the coil move up and or down. So, it's best to have a coil stabilizer in the surf. It's okay to wade with the 5"x10"DD. Just don't take it more than a few feet deep. Now, the 8" Mono coil is very nice as it is very smooth in the surf and water wading. It hits on smaller bits than that 5"x10"DD and also gets a tad bit more depth. You just get a bit more coverage with 5"x10".
My own personal fav for beach is 10"x14" Mono.
All the coils are great. I like to use that lil' 3"x7"DD while nuggett shootin' around rocks and shrubs. That 8"Mono is great for nuggett shootin' too, but it has a tendency to get caught up in shrubs and such due to its open design where as the 5"x10"DD and 3"x7"DD won't get caught up in shrubs.
Have fun!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)
