chest mount

When you chest mount do you wrap one loop around the strap before you connect to the detector? I was always told when I hip mount to go once around the belt.

hi william.. i dont know how to post pics but i bought a nintendo gameboy bag at a yard sale for a dollar... its perfect size for the gt box to fit in snuggly.. it has a zipper three quarters way around the outside edge.... i cut a small hole in the bottom of the bag just big enough for the coil plug to fit thru and cut a slice in the top of the bag so i can make adjustments while hunting.. the beauty of it is the strap allows me to either hip mount or chest mount around my neck ... the bag also helps protect the box from salt spray... .happy huntin ..

I used to pass the wire twice through the belt loop on the hipmount bag and then to the control box. Now, I just pass the wire through one time, attach it back on itself with a velcro strap and then to the control box. That way, any stress caused from pulling on the cable is transferred the belt loop rather than to the point where the wire connects to the box. Plus, it gives me a little extra cable length to work with when chest mounting. HH, Crispy

Here's my chest mount set up......... sorry for the 'dark' photo, my camera objects to night photo's!!

So not only a strap around the neck but also around the chest - stops the control box from moving or flapping around. I didn't like hip mounting it - felt uncomfortable.
The neck strap goes to the clips and the chest strap goes through the control box cover belt loop.

I am going to improve on this by getting a 'figure of eight' strap - so this would be a loop over each shoulder elasticated to cling to the chest, that will take the weight off my neck and be more comfortable, I think it would still need the chest strap though.

I don't, I double loop around my jeans/shorts belt loop. So should any pressure come on the cable its going to pull at my clothing. Gives me the extra room and means I can lay the detector flat on the floor and still stand up - so if I need to dig a big hole I have two hands and the detector is out of the way. I am happy with that set up at the moment but again will be changing this and use a quick release clip which hopefully will take up some of the cable slack when I don't need it and in one quick movement release it for when I do (digging!).

check around your area............fast and easy

just hang it in the bag that comes with it.

pic of excalibur chest mounted....................for example only

I bought a binocular harness from Academy for $11.99, it goes across your back in an X and clips on to the standard hip mount bag. Very stable and keeps the unit up high on your chest with adjustments.Binocular Harness

Karen is making me a chest mount/harness system. Over the shoulder straps (going to a 2" steel ring mid back) and side straps also going from the chest mount to the ring in the back. Velcro attachment for the Digiscan meter.
Construction is waterproof nylon Cordura.

Should be finished this weekend. Will post pics.

Get a binocular harness that makes an X in the back that will go over and under your shoulders, it can be adjusted high or low on your chest with the blue minelab chest mount bag. I am 84 years old and no problem. Used the around the neck strap and it hurts me bad. I paid about $12.00 for the bio-strap and the best move for me. GH, Don

Here's my setup. A bino strap and my hip mount belt. The belt goes around my middle to keep the control box snug against my body. Very comfortable to use.

I throw mine in the Minelab hip/chest bag with no extra straps other than what it came with, but I throw it around my neck and then put my left arm through it so the bad is slug up against my left arm pit just in front of it. It not only shortens the length of the harness thus keeping the bag a little higher on my chest, but it also makes it quick/easy to remove the bag without having to undo harnesses. Still, I may try one of those deals like you guys where it gets strapped around the torso and keeps it from moving on me. One nice thing about where I have it is it's real easy to simply use my right hand to reach up and throw the PP switch. Even though I detect with that arm the shaft stays safely anchored to my arm via the arm strap roughly around my elbow area.

now i like that chest mount assy..thatll work great..so how can i get one made same way?? are these for sale??
any info would be great:clapping::detecting:
let me know
thanks
john

Hi guys just a thought I have a SD 2200 which has battery harness very similar to the 1 above posted by gravedigger max
All you have to do is find is a short piece of conduit or light pipe drill a few holes attach controls and battery pack with small bolts
NOW you can mount it to the harness I drilled a hole at each end of the pipe put a heavy cord through it and just tied to the harness
where it was comfortable.Maybe someone can improve on this.The harness cost about $50.00 maybe cheaper
