Cherry Picker. A custom pattern some have had good success with.

Many UK Coin hunters have had great success with this pattern. I have tried it on parks and found it work's well at locating many coins while still rejecting a lot of trash. Happy hunting

Some coins could be in the center blacked out strip agreed , however on sites where you are only looking for certain types of target it works fine.

It might work even better in U.S. with our coinage...In the UK with so many coins from so many different eras...I would stay away from Disc. patterns as its going to cost you some depth and just might miss a nice coin that is partially masked.. I think AM with -16 on earlier models and -32 on the SE is the favorite of many of our more proficient Explorer users..A word to the newbies start at a lower number and work up to AM as fully maxxed it can be noisy and may confuse someone new to the unit...

When the coin on the edge or among other targets, or deep enough, or hardly decayed - it will be in any part of the screen

King of Ace, thanks, and I for one will check it out as a new "quick search" mode with your cherry picker mode.

I try to hunt during my lunch break at least two or three times a week, and with the limited time, might be a wee bit better utilized with that specialized setting, canna' hurt, as again short on time and must be within a few minutes of work, and anything to speed up a possible find on short time would help, regardless of percentage. One too many tangles with headphone cord, the "now whee did I put my digging too?, and I have almost no time left to even noise cancel....sheeeshhhhh.:yikes:

So "keep-a' posting" and I'll...."keep-a reading & adjusting"!

Nice cherry piker. I consider the visual way that we can SEE what we are doing with discrimination to be one of the great features of the SE. I have just now been able to start detecting again and am getting out a little with the SE. I like to hunt sites in distinct stages such as using an all silver setting then go back and slowly open up discrimination and if I can go to a completely clear all metal detecting.

We have an old county fairground in a town not far from where I live. I guess it has been hunted since detector first hit the market and has more trash in it than once can imagine unless you are hunting it with a detector using all metal. I have found a lot quarters and dimes both old and new using just the upper right corner of the screen open. I have found 20 to 25 clad quarters and dimes in a single hunt using this including a few older silver coins.

It can be tough using all metal at this sight or in some old parks not far from the fairgrounds. Finding the right discrimination pattern can really make a difference in what kind of day my son and I have coin hunting. If you have read any of my posts in the past I also like a threshold so will open up just a few pixels in the upper left of the screen to keep a threshold hum.
