My old gold wedding band is not picked up by the explorer xs after i checked off jewely.
Is there something I'm doin wrong?
I'm sure it is a simple thing but it is beyond me at the moment.

Just run in iron mask and forget all those presets.. presets are just that and they accept and reject many good items

As You probably know an X rejects all jewelry. A check is supposed to accept it. Not trying to be asanine just trying to help.

Hi TonyinGA! Nice to see another Tony here!
Yes, a check mark on Jewelry.
But as Jim mentions below, best to just run in iron mask. That is what I will do.
How does one know though how much iron mask to run for any thing?

Thanks Jim.
I will try the iron mask. Is there a scale one uses or formula as to where to set the intensity of the iron mask?
P.S. Hope you will do ok over the next couple days due to 9/11 since you live in NY.

I generally run iron mask -14 to -15 everywhere.. really shouldnt try that till you get used to the audio though... I would say idf your hunting jewelry in fairly iron free environment that -10 would be plenty// Like I said beforer if you get into a lot of trash. build yourself a pattern mimicking iron mask and use the reject mode to get rid of the most troublesome trash items and you will still get most of the good stuff..

You could try this: Go into 'accept' and put a check next to Jewelry, then go in to Learn mode and sweel the ring. If a new block appears somewhere in the black area then indeed the Jewelry pattern was discriminating out that piece of Jewelry. If no new block appears then it's not the pattern.
This is a metal ring...right?! <snicker>

Hi a couple weeks ago I was out with 2 friends
one has a Whites XLT the other a Garrett

I am a rookie with this detector I have had it about 2 months
I was dumfounded so I got my book back out written
by Any Sabish
Here are the settings I changed to and now it will pick up Small gold rings not Small chains though
Put a check mark by (Coins)
Put a X by (Fe Coins)
Put a check mark by (Jewelry)
Put a check mark by (Foil)
Put a check mark by (Pull Tabs)
Put a X by (Crown Caps)
Put a check mark by (Screw Caps)
Put a X by (Nails)
Try this and good luck
I have found out that to find gold you will dig a lot of rubbish

Yes it is a man's wedding gold band (which I no longer wear).

when I got home I tested it to see where the cross hairs would be on the screen. I was flabbergasted to find my UWE would no longer pick it up. I also tried my Sovereign and my Excalibur and they wouldn't pick it up either. The only thing I can figure is that the bracelet must of had a target under it that the UWE picked up. Thanks for the program, I'll give it a try.... Bob
