Here is how I use my MXT:
I switch to Relic Mode, and then I turn the Discrimination up just enough to eliminate iron. Then, when I hit a high tone, which means non-ferrous, then I use the pinpoint to see approximately how big the object is, then if I determine that it is a reasonably small item, I dig it up. This is how to find the treasure that others left behind. For example, when other people with high-end detectors crank up the discrimination and just
 
That digger you are so proud of has cost lots of us hunting rights in many cities because somebody has used them in parks and on school and private property. The general public does not like to see things like that digging up their ground no matter how nicely you fill your hole. Relic hunting in the woods? Fine, but a small shovel is lighter, cheaper and probably works better. Diggers like that really hurts our hobby and it's image. Please people, be considerate of our public image and help preserve our hobby.

I agree we need to be aware of how we are perceived by others that do not understand the hobby. It only takes one fool:nono:to mess it up for everyone else.
